Ahead of Modi US visit, Bill Tabled for Revoking Pakistan MNNA Status

Indian Prime Minister will soon be leaving for US and ahead of their tour two senior congressman have tabled bill in House of representative for revoking Pakistan status as major non-NATO ally (MNNA)
Democratic lawmaker Rick Nolan and Republic Congressman Ted Poe have introduced this Bill for revoking Pakistan Major Non-NATO Ally status as the country has fallen short in terms of fighting terrorism and removal of terrorists group from their land significantly.
This Status was granted to them by the then President, George Bush in 2004 for their support for suppressing and fighting terrorists group Al-Qaeda and Taliban.
“Pakistan must be held accountable for the American blood on its hands,” were the words of Ted Poe Republican Congressman serving as chairman for subcommittee on terrorism, non-proliferation and trade as well as member of foreign affairs committee respectively.
Further speculating on their status on Pakistan He added, “For years, Pakistan has acted as a Benedict Arnold ally of the United States. From harbouring Osama bin laden to backing the Taliban, Pakistan has stubbornly refused to go after, in any meaningful way, terrorists that actively seek to harm opposing ideologies,”
“Time and time again, Pakistan has taken advantage of America’s goodwill and demonstrated that they are no friend and ally of the United States,” Nolan added they have seen again and again Pakistan unaffected measures on terrorism.
Under MNNA, any country is eligible for prior delivery of defence materials, US loan guarantee program backed up by banks for financing arm deals for the specific country.
Modi is scheduled for his visit on June 25 and for meeting with US President Donald Trump subsequently on next day May 26. Trump administration has also approved 22 Guardian Drones sales to the India further adding to their better ties in the future.
