Beef Fest drama in IIT Madras and both parties booked under IPC

Phd Scolar R Sooraj of Department of Aerospace was given thrashing and beating for organising beef party on the mess for protests against the recent ban of Centre on Cattle Slaughter respectively. Nine students have been booked for this incident and the victim who was seriously injured in his eyes was also booked under IPC act.

The whole story starts with around 70-80 students organised beef party on Sunday evening showing their concerns against the Centre order. Then as the news spread and right wing students approached him during the mess time crowded the scholar asking for why the party was held?, then started beating him mercilessly.

Student named Manish Kumar started beating the scholar and he was given taken to the university doctor who later advised to take him to near hospital at Sankara Nethralaya, Nungambakkam.

Charges were held under the two sections IPC 324 – voluntarily causing hurt, IPC 341 – punishment for wrongful constraint, IPC 323- Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt and IPC 506(1) – criminal intimidation whereas the scholar was also booked under IPC 324 – Voluntarily causing hurt and IPC 341-wrongful restraints after Manish Kumar’s complaint in the police station respectively.

Cow and calf slaughter in banned in Tamil Nadu whereas Buffaloes, Bull or Ox there are no restrictions.

The incident turned more towards politics with Kerala CM himself condemning the attack from Twitter handle and asking for the actions from his counterpart CM of Tamil Nadu Edappadi K. Palaniswami.
