‘Shehar Tumahara, Kaatil tum, Shahid tum, Haakim Tum, Mujhe Yakin hai Kasoor mera hi hoga’

Perhaps this was the first time when the Prime Minister of India literally came out to say that ‘Yakin hai Kasoor mera hi hoga’ as he was the one who implemented demonetization not so long ago. On Wednesday, while answering on the Motion of Thanks to President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started with thanking all the member of the house for adding discerning thoughts into the debate. As the issue of Uttarakhand earthquake was brought into the monologue, the vertical order of communication reflected its strength as PM Narendra Modi commented, ‘The earthquake finally took place – Earth (Dharti Ma) was likely angered’. Aimed at Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi warned of making ‘an earthquake’ happen.

In this regard, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury made it clear, ‘It was a speech directed at the Uttar Pradesh elections and that is what he has delivered. His speech did not have the elementary humanism to condole the death of so many people who died in the lines waiting to withdraw their own money’. But at the same time, it needs to be noted that PM Narendra Modi is one who makes an attempt to fight scam (SP, Congress, Akhilesh and Mayawati) with VIKAS that stands for Vidyut (electricity), K for Kanoon (law) and S for Sadak (roads), as said by him while addressing an election rally. As the speech reassured that the fight against black money and corruption was not a political fight, PM Narendra Modi did not forget to mention the increase in the number of maoists surrendering and the way the people were of same opinion, at least during the period of demonetization.

The gyrating in the tune of ‘Na Koi Tha, Na Koi Hai’ did not start until Modi’s speech turned into the trajectory of stating Dr.Manmohan Singh as one who were among very few people who had the opportunity to influence the economy at the top level for nearly half of Independent India’s history. As Modi commented, ‘Bathroom me raincoat pehen kar nahana…Yeh kala to doctor sahab hi jante hain, aur koi nahin janta (taking a bath while wearing a raincoat… only doctor sahab knows this art, none else)’, it doesn’t take much intellect to understand that he meant the ability of the former PM to stay away from scams such as Coalgate, 2G spectrum scam, Commonwealth Games scam, just to name a few. Such comments came only after Manmohan Singh commenting the demonetization ‘monumental mismanagement’ and ‘organized loot and legalized plunder’ earlier.during the Winter Session. The ‘art of bathing in a bathroom with a raincoat on’ left the Congress leaders livid followed by Yechury commenting, ‘today you have seen the sorry state of Indian democracy when entire opposition walked out at the time when motion was being adopted.’

Even though PM has been accused of delivering a speech that lacked ‘elementary humanism’ and not keeping the dignity of the post of Prime Minister, it is quite strange that they did not feel the same way when an ordinance was passed by Manmohan-led UPA even in his absence.
