Russia Keen To Sell New Fighter Jet MiG 35 To India: MiG Official

Russian Aircraft Corporation, MiG’s, Director General Ilya Tarasenko expressed his keenness to sell new fighter jet MiG 35 to India as the country has expressed interest in the aircraft and talks are ongoing to envisage its requirements.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of MAKS 2017 air show here in Zhukovsky, the chief of Russian Aircraft Corporation said that after its launch in January, MiG 35 has been highly promoted in India and other countries.

He said, “We are proposing supply of the aircraft for tenders in India and we actively work with its Air Force in order to win the tender.”

Asserting that the Indian authorities are highly interested in this new fighter jet,

Tarasenko observed that MiG 35 can take down an American jet in an air combat.

He further said that Mig 35 is Russia’s most advanced 4++ fighter jet which boasts of having technical specifications that almost replicates that of a fifth generation aircraft in terms of its weapon range, flight capabilities, defense system and stealth.

Talking about the economic advantage, Tarasenko said that the prices of these jets will be 20-25 per cent lesser than that offered by the competitors. He also guaranteed to provide appropriate training along with 40 years of after sale service.

“We propose not just the aircraft, but also training for its use, as well as after-sales servicing where we take upon the responsibility to service it for 40 years,” he said.

Talking about the status of the deal with India he said, “We are in the negotiation stage where talks on technical and technological specifications that MiG can present to India and the requirements that India has for this aircraft were taking place.

“Principally, Russia is ready to participate in future aviation tenders in India. However, as of now, we do not have information on the opening of a tender and, correspondingly, on the plane’s technical requirements set by the Indian side,” he further added according to a Russian news agency.
