Women Holding Position in Top Four High Courts

In a first of its kind, Women are now heading the 4 major courts in India with Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata as Chief Justice of respective courts.

This came after the recent appointment of Indira Banerjee for Chief Justice of Madras HC, with Justice Manjula Chellur heading Bombay HC, Justic G Rohine with Delhi HC and Justice Nishita Mahatre upholding the position at Calcutta makes the top four High Courts positions being held by Women first time in India.

In the male dominated world of Indian Society this is certainly one of better achievements seen with Women Empowerment. But ration among the male-women still remains one shows the majority of the latter only.

Out of 632 justices appointed in India only 10% were held by women with only 68 judges. While Bombay HC has the highest number being 11 out total 61.
