It seems that for a major section of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, the statement made by the outgoing Vice President Hamid Ansari which he made about the Muslims have not gone down well.

Reacting to Ansari’s statement, “a feeling of unease, a sense of insecurity is creeping in” Shanawaz Hussain, a BJP, leader said that India is the best country to stay for Muslims and Hindus are their best friend.
“(There is) no better country than India for Muslims and no better friend than Hindus,” said Shahnawaz Hussain.
The reaction came at the backdrop of the statement that Ansari made in Rajya Sabha TV where he was asked whether lynching and cow vigilante is disturbing the communal equilibrium of the country.
Ansari told a news agency, “Yes, it is a correct assessment. From all I hear from different quarters, the country. I heard the same thing in Bengaluru, I have heard from other parts of the country, I hear more about in north India. There is a feeling of unease, a sense of insecurity is creeping in.”
One of BJP’s national executive members, Priti Gandhi took a dig at the 80 year old Ansari and tweeted that whether Ansari feels uneasy when he was placed at the pinnacle of power for 10 years in a Hindu majority country.
For the Muslim community too, Ansari had a piece of advise where he urged them to move on with time and acknowledge the requirement of the present time.
“Do not create for one self or one’s fellow beings an imaginary situation which is centuries back, when things were very different. I mean the whole idea was that what are the challenges today… The challenges today are challenges of development, what are the requirements for development; you keep up with the times, educate yourself, and compete…” the ex vice president said.
