Delhi high court directed Centre to develop eco friendly farming to reduce pollution

In the bid to check pollution in the autumn and winter months in the national capital, the Delhi high court directed the Centre to develop eco friendly farming practices which would reduce stubble burning, one of the prime reasons of air pollution.

In this issue , the ministries of environment, science and technology, and agriculture was instructed by a bench of justices S. Ravindra Bhat and S.P. Garg to seek assistance assistance from educational and technical institutions if required.
The Centre was also directed by the court to explore the chances of creating a fund for innovations in the techniques of farming.
Although, the Centre has been given the freedom to decide whether to create the fund or not, the court has asked the secretaries of 3 ministries to dile a report, which would include the Centre ‘s vision of moving ahead, after holding a meeting. 
 
The decision has come at the backdrop of a PIL which was initiative by it on the issue of rising air pollution in Delhi.
Apart from Delhi, the governments of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh has been instructed by the court to dile status reports every alternate months regarding what steps are being taken to educate the agricultural workers regarding the problems of stubble burning.
On August 29, the matter will be taken up by the court again.
