Mumbai Reeling under Heavy Rains; Return on 2005 Floods

Mumbai is again feeling the wrath of the weather with highest rainfall received in last few days since their flood like situation on July 26, 2005. Next 48 hours might be crucial too with more rain predicted with high tide to be expected to hit the sea side city later today too.

The whole scenarios that affected the Mumbai with floods of 2005 when only single day rain caused the city on its knees is looking to replicate itself with weather predictions going off the charts again this year. Municipal corporations and Disaster Management teams are on alert with public announcement to evacuate the lower areas respectively.

Water Logging is seen all over the city with lower areas getting the worst hit. Andheri, Hindmata, Dadar, Elphinstone, Andheri East, Jogeshwari station, Khar West and Lower Parel among the areas most affected with water logging. MET department has already issued warning for Maharashtra especially for north Konkan region.

Many trees falls are being reported all around the city with knee length water on the roads have led to congested traffic which simultaneously disrupted traffic in Jogeshwari and Ghatkopar east.

Many flights and their schedule are seeing delays with two confirmed Mumbai bound flight diverted to avoid any situation.

People are advised to stay at home until any further emergency as rains might give more trouble in next 48 hours with teams of National Disaster Response Force, Disaster Management and Municipal corporations are on high alert.
