Najma Heptullah asks BJP to form government in Manipur

The Governor of Manipur, Najma Heptullah has invited the BJP to form government in Manipur. According to the news agency ANI , the swearing in ceremony will be held tomorrow in Imphal. The oath ceremony will be attended by Amit Shah and Union Minister Jitendra Singh.
On Sunday, 21 BJP MLA’s , 4 NPP MLA’s and an MLA from the Congress party had met the governor. N Biren Singh who was elected as the leader of BJP legislature party had staked claim to form government in Manipur.
After the assembly elections, Congress emerged as the largest party in Manipur, but was not in majority. Congress won 28 seats and BJP won 21 seats. Ibobi Singh who has been the CM of Manipur since 2002 was elected as the leader of the Congress legislature party. Singh had said that since Congress has the largest number of seats in the State they should be given the first opportunity to form government. But BJP managed to get help from other MLA’s. Four MLA’s of the Naga People’s Front had extended their support to BJP and have said that they will help BJP form government in Manipur. In addition 4 NPP MLA’s , one MLA of LJP and TMC MLA along with one Congress MLA have extended their support to BJP.
