No Red Beacon on top of VIP Vehicle

Government has stopped read beacon lights on top of VIP Vehicle to any dignitary come May 1, 2017.

This decision has been liked by a lot twitter users with Prime Minister tweeting “It should have gone long ago. Glad that today a strong beginning has been made.” With many thanks he also replied one of the tweets with “today u told no need of red color light in VIP car, good dession modiji, now all Indians VIP only…”  ‘With Good phrase!’ pointing to the fact that now every Indian is VIP now.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had announced to reporters that “From May 1, no red beacon will be allowed atop any official vehicle. There will be no exceptions,” after cabinet meeting amending the Central Motor Vehicle rules 1989 respectively.

Only emergency vehicles, police vehicles and fire rescue trucks will have the authority to use these red beacons.

Many States including Rajasthan, Goa, Odisha, Maharashtra and Gujarat also complemented this decision by announcing their full support.

Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh is not using red beacon for last eight years whereas recently appointed CMS’s of Uttar Pradesh and Punjab also decided not to use red beacon or lal batti for their official cars.
