World Bank CEO feels that demonetization will have a positive impact on the Indian Economy

The World Bank CEO, Kristalina Georgieva has said that the demonetization done by the Indian Prime Minister will have a positive impact on the Indian economy. She said that though people may have faced difficulties due to the demonetization but it will make sure that they get a better and cleaner economy in the long run. She also said that such type of demonetization has not been done by any other country which is as big as India and that other countries will study this.

She pointed out that though cash dependent businesses may face difficulties initially, this move will help bring about a positive change. She said that the financial inclusion programme along with digital payments and direct transfer to subsidies will help the common man.

Ms Kristalina who was in India visited Dharavi in Mumbai by local train. She was happy to see the positivity in the Indian people and felt that they were willing to put in that extra for improved services.

She said that overall things looked bright for this country and also stated that the growth projection for India for this year was 7%. She said that with the GST to be soon implemented and with the various reforms being implemented she was hopeful that India will surely achieve this growth.
